At HeroCoders, we’re committed to remote working. Of course that doesn’t mean we never meet each other in person. Once a year, we gather somewhere in the world to talk, laugh, exchange ideas, and learn about each other. It’s an opportunity for us to build a culture of community, inclusivity and innovation.

This year’s location was the beautiful city of Florence and surrounding areas in Tuscany, Italy.

So, what did we do?

We came…

From Canada and Mexico, Croatia and Poland, Georgia and Ireland. It was a chance to welcome new team members – Benvenuto Claire – and in some cases, a chance to meet long-term team members in person for the first time including our colleagues Farid, Evgenii.

We saw…

  • Da Vinci’s Annunciation
  • Botticelli’s Primavera
  • Brunelleschi’s dome
  • Dante’s & Beatrice’s church

We conquered…

Okay, we didn’t really conquer anything, but we made a lot of plans to do so in the future. Between sight-seeing, (over)eating and wine tasting, our team planned and strategized about the many ways we want to make our products even better for our customers, and make our company the best place in the world to work (anywhere!).

We codified our decision making process, updated our SWOT, and reviewed our amped-up security policies.

As a fully remote company, we found it energizing to be together as we reviewed past progress and planned for the future. It felt like a new beginning…like a Renaissance.

Here’s a few more highlights from our trip:

We learned loads of new stuff.

We admired the Italian masters.

We took in the sights.

We ate in beautiful rooftop restaurants.

We drank bubbles (on another beautiful rooftop).

We had fun together.

We strolled through vineyards.

We pranked each other.

We smiled.

We know what a lucky bunch we are to work at HeroCoders. Want to work for a company that really values its people? We’re hiring!
